We currently have an opening for a Sr. Desktop Services Engineer in Irvine, CA.

     

    As a Sr. Deskside Services Engineer within IVC’s Information Technology team, this individual plays a critical role working closely with the business and across the Information Technology organization to define, deliver, maintain and support technical solutions and supporting roadmaps. In summary this position is responsible for: Creating and maintaining roadmaps and architecture; Implementation and lifecycle maintenance of IVC’s Deskside solutions including engineering, implementation and integration processes; Defining specifications for Deskside hardware, operating systems and applications; Providing second tier escalation path for Deskside Services.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluates, engineers, tests, recommends, and implements secure Deskside Services solutions.
    • Acts as a second tier escalation resource for the Deskside Services team.
    • Documents platforms, tools, materials and processes required for ongoing operations.
    • Gathers business requirements for system design.
    • Researches and develops implementation roadmaps for future technologies and services.
    • Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately.
    • Investigates and resolves escalations regarding Deskside system problems and performance.
    • Schedules and coordinates installation, testing and maintenance of Deskside firmware and software updates, ensuring ongoing compatibility with other business services.
    • Performs root cause analysis with respect to hardware and software issues, developing and implementing specific remediation processes.
    • Provides ongoing reports to leadership, customers, and peers regarding Deskside Services enhancements, innovations, solutions and performance metrics.
    • Develops and maintains Deskside Services engineering standards in terms of hardware and software purchase standards and implementation, support and maintenance processes.
    • Periodic endpoint auditing to ensure standards, policies and processes are being correctly implemented.
    • Plans and coordinates with various cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure present and future capacity/scalability/compatibility with respect to Desktop Services and the services for which they are a dependency.
    • Mentors/coaches less experienced Deskside Services engineers on technical topics.
    • Participates in cross-functional projects having a Deskside Services engineering dependency.
    • Regularly assists in confirming the work of lower level Deskside Services engineers.
    • Prioritizes work as it relates to the achievement of IVC's short and long term business goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for testing and analysis of all elements and integration points of Deskside Services hardware and software standards and implementation and maintenance processes.
    • Provides guidance and direction to junior level system engineers.
    • Regularly assists in auditing the work of lower level engineers to ensure standards, policies and processes are being correctly implemented.
    • Establishes system priorities as they relate to IVC's achievement of short and long-term business goals and objectives.
    • Analyzes and provides innovative solutions to Deskside services group and the IT team as a whole.
    • Represents the IT team in front of critical audiences such as clients, customers, vendors and executives.
    • Other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Education: Undergraduate degree and 8+ years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 6+ years relevant experience.

     

    Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of system development methodology, project management, analytical/problem solving skills and relevant development, and technology skills. 

    • In-depth disciplinary knowledge; leverages business acumen and subject matter expertise.
    • Provides deep subject matter expertise, advice and program delivery.
    • Contributes to the development of new architectures and methodologies within area of expertise.
    • In-depth understanding of the company goals, strategies, priorities, business/customer requirements and expectations
    • Knowledge of competitor practices, best practices and benchmarks.
    • Manages projects and program execution.
    • Advanced proficiency in Deskside Services asset deployment, maintenance and administration processes, management tools and Best Practices.

    • Advanced knowledge and adaptation of emerging technologies, frameworks and processes to reduce costs, effort and maintenance.
    • Advanced proficiency in the establishing and implementing general IT control and governance policies processes such as user on/off boarding processes, workflows and endpoint data lifecycle management.Supervisory Responsibility: This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. However, this role is expected to provide guidance and mentoring to lessor experienced team members. In addition, this role will also have project management responsibilities.Language and Communication Skills: Must possess excellent facilitation and communication skills, and able to adapt to the level and nature of their audience.
