  • Overview

    • Under limited supervision, oversees packaging operations, maintains control of all products at all times and assists supervisor to ensure appropriate daily operation of the Packaging department. Provides lead direction, trains staff, and assigns duties to line Packaging Operators

    Responsibilities

    • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures; and state, federal, and local laws
    • Leads, prioritizes, assigns, & reviews the daily activities of Packaging Operators
    • Verifies process compliance with batch record guidelines; maintains accountability of bulk and bottle product and completes all packaging order paperwork
    • Trains line personnel in all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to packaging, cleaning, assembly, and disassembly of machinery
    • Organizes and assigns specific tasks according to line personnel experience and training abilities
    • Maintains identification and control of products at all times; makes required entries for the control of product and equipment in appropriate logs
    • Monitors line efficiency and control of product at all times; makes required entries for the control of product and equipment in appropriate logs
    • Monitors line efficiency and ensure tasks are being performed by operators according to training, safety and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines
    • Ensures all personnel maintain work areas in a clean orderly manner
    • Provides support, direction, and coaching to Packaging Operators in the areas of training, problem resolution, planning, and work assignment delegation
    • Ensures project deadlines and performance standards are established and met
    • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations
    • Performs related duties as assigned
    • Subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, vision to monitor, lifting materials weighing up to 25 pounds and moderate to loud noise levels.

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalency with mechanical training
    • 3-5 years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment; or 2 years satisfactory performance as a Packaging Operator
    • Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements

    • Experience with SOPs; packaging methods/procedures and documentation; MSDSs; and other manufacturing documentation
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
    • Reads, writes (spelling , grammar, and punctuation), and speaks English
    • Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
    • Following and understanding verbal and written job instructions
    • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others
