Overview

As a Sr. Network Administrator within IVC’s Information Technology team, this individual plays a critical role working across the Information Technology organization and closely with the business in defining, delivering, and supporting IT technical solutions and supporting roadmaps.  In summary this position analyzes and resolves complex network related problems, analyzes, and tests all elements of the network infrastructure, assists with the design of a secure nationwide network, and establishes standards based on business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Defines network business requirements and implements effective nationwide network strategies.
  • Implements secure network solutions that maximize the sharing of applications, information, and resources across the company.
  • Coordinates with multiple vendors/departments to procure network-related hardware, software, and services.
  • Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues.
  • Creates and shares roadmap and technical support to determine network business needs throughout the company.
  • Evaluates, tests, recommends, and implements specific network solutions.
  • Researches emerging network technologies and makes recommendations based on future business needs.
  • Schedules and coordinates installation and maintenance of standard software/hardware on the network and ensures compatibility of all communications and computer hardware/software.
  • Provides ongoing information to leadership, customers, and peers regarding health of the environment, enhancements, innovations and secure network solutions.
  • Manages existing nationwide network infrastructure.
  • Ensures network availability to all users.
  • Controls, tests and analyzes the status and performance of all components of network facilities.
  • Identifies, diagnoses and resolves problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Confers with senior engineers to diagnose and resolve more complex issues.
  • May provide some assistance to less- experienced network engineers.
  • Assists senior level network engineers to analyze and provide innovative solutions to network engineering and design projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Undergraduate degree and 8+ years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 4+ years relevant experience. 

 

I.T. Certifications Preferred:

  • CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate
  • CWNA: Certified Wireless Network Administrator (or equivalent Vendor Cert.)

  • Ability to consistently apply broad knowledge of network administration to the diagnoses and resolution of network problems.
  • Effective communication skills within and outside team.
  • Intermediate knowledge of security issues and implications to network solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency of network concepts and solutions and implications for security (AD, Topology Mgmt, VLAN’s, Software Defined Networks and micro segmentation (e.g., VMWare NSX), QOS, SD-WAN, MPLS, DNS, Scripting, UTM, Next Generation Firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto), IDS/IPS, DMZ, VPN, Wireless Networks 802.11a, 802.11b/g/n, and/or 802.11ac, and ISE.
  •  Intermediate knowledge and adaptation of emerging technologies and frameworks to reduce costs, effort, and maintenance.
  • Intermediate proficiency in the establishing and implementing general IT control processes such as access, backup & recovery, and DR.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:  This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.  However, this role is expected to provide guidance and mentoring to lessor experienced team members.  In addition, this role will also have project management responsibilities.

 

Language and Communication Skills:  Must possess excellent facilitation and communication skills, and able to adapt to the level and nature of their audience.
