Overview

This position provides leadership to their assigned shift technicians regarding preventative and urgent tasks on all equipment and company assets while adhering to company policies and procedures.

 

Maintenance positions are responsible for keeping machinery running to maintain continuous production flow with minimal down time while maintaining a safe work environment. Assists more skilled staff in the completion of larger and more complex assignments.  Must be willing to setup, adjust and teardown equipment.

 

IVC technicians must meet required skill level in applicable Job Skills Analysis (JSA).   Proficiency in these areas will be determined by skills assessments administered during the hiring process, or by successful completion of training courses and validation in each area. Examples of skills assessed:

  • Maintenance Fundamentals, Mechanical Concepts, Pneumatics, Electrical Power, Electrical Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible to ensure all work is prioritized and properly delegated.
  • Responsible for quality and cost effectiveness of work performed by you and your team.
  • Responsible for completion of team’s assigned tasks.
  • Coaching/mentoring team to constantly strive for improvement.
  • Work with direct supervisor to constantly improve Lead and Technician’s Standard Work.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and routine setup of assigned equipment.
  • Assists others in installation and relocation of equipment.
  • Practice and actively drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) processes.
  • Perform daily preventive and repair maintenance.
  • Complete appropriate paper/digital documents in a timely and detailed manner.
  • Monitor and adjust machinery to maximum accuracy and efficiency.
  • Convert machinery to accommodate changes in various environments.
  • Operate machinery if required. Operate newly repaired equipment and machinery to verify the adequacy of repairs, as appropriate.
  • Identify and document parts or machines needing new or replacement parts.
  • Works alone or with other technicians and/or trades to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Follow Standard Work as assigned.
  • Dismantles, repairs, and reassembles complex equipment.
  • Respond quickly to emergency requests by site management when mechanical issues with equipment have been identified.
  • Compliance with company policies, SOP’s, cGMPs and all other government regulations as related to this position.
  • Ensure all associates follow safety procedures when opening, repairing, and installing process or plant equipment. (LOTO, Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Permits, etc.).
  • Interpret drawings of equipment to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery.
  • Operates various types of equipment (fork truck, electric pallet jacks, man lift, etc.)
  • Required to work on ladders, scaffolds, and equipment.
  • Responsible for serviceability and accountability of company tools/tooling.
  • Responsible for promoting a 5S culture on your team, maintaining 5S standards and cleaning in assigned areas.
  • Complete assigned course work/training as determined by department management.
  • Responsible to assist and/or coach less experienced associates.
  • All other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Leaders.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

 

  • High School Diploma/GED plus one of below:
    • 6 years equipment maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial or commercial environment
    • 2-year technical degree Industrial Maintenance or related field and 4 years industrial maintenance experience with manufacturing, packaging, or processing equipment.
    • Some requirements may be mitigated for internal employees.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Must exhibit strong leadership and team member engagement abilities.
  • Must exhibit a high level of troubleshooting ability.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and willing to perform mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic tasks.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret mechanical data from blueprints, schematics, wiring and diagrams.
  • Familiarity with maintenance and repair of machinery.
  • Working knowledge and troubleshooting skills of motor/drive assembly mechanical functions and systems (e.g., change oil, gears, hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools and precision measuring instruments (e.g., drills, drivers, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, etc.)
  • Intermediate welding skills is desired.
  • Proficient computer skills utilizing MS Office and Outlook is desired.
  • Willingness to learn and advance personal skill set.
  • Ability to work with others and promote a team culture.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and written.

 

Work Environment / Physical Demands (essential to perform the job duties)

 

  • The employee is regularly required to use hands, speak, and hear.
  • Required to wear special garments along with hair nets, beard covers to prevent cross contamination.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand for long periods, bend, reach with arms, and stoop at knees.
  • Work is sometimes performed in a moderately noisy business area.
  • Able to carry 50 lbs.
