Overview

IVC is seeking a Sustainability Analyst II, who will support research, analytical, and reporting efforts related to our overall Sustainability strategy as well as internal and external communications related to sustainability. This role is critical to support IVC’s increasing commitment to and investment in sustainability.

The Manager will conduct the reporting required to engage external stakeholders around our growing sustainability portfolio. For example, the Manager will be responsible for completing annual customer sustainability reporting, annual updates to the company’s Sustainability Report and project support for our planned initiatives to mitigate GHG emissions along our supply chain.  As a project manager, this role is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to an established project schedule with strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. As a Project Manager, this role will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

In addition, the Manager will support our ongoing stakeholder engagement, thought leadership, and Communications initiatives by keeping track of developments in the published literature and evolving Sustainability space.  This position will report to the Director, Facilities.

Responsibilities

Sustainability Reporting (30%)

  • Manage annual sustainability reporting processes (e.g. customer web portals,  company KPIs) and other relevant disclosure mechanisms.
    • Communicate results to internal stakeholders to assist with strategic decision-making
    • Provide strategic advice for aligning IVC’s sustainability practices and goals with reporting initiatives
    • Maintain documentation for compiling sustainability reporting.
  • Identify and develop metrics for reporting that are responsive to stakeholder needs and that highlight IVC’s commitment to sustainability, stewardship, transparency, and responsibility.
    • Assist with ongoing reporting of these metrics on a regular basis for external and internal stakeholders.

Knowledge Management & Research (15%)

  • Research support to develop and implement Enviva’s climate change mitigation strategy including collecting relevant information and data from relevant parties.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the reporting and regulatory environment.

Internal and External Communication (15%)

  • Support internal processes to produce data inputs to annual ESG and Sustainability reports.
  • Develop materials to support Enviva’s engagement with external sustainability, climate, and ESG groups and initiatives, certification bodies, trade associations, and customers.
  • Serve as point person for data requests from cross-functional team for external communication purposes.
  • Support the SVP and Chief Sustainability Officer with presentations and communication materials.
  • Create internal and external presentations on sustainability topics and data processes

Project Management (50%)

  • Create Project schedules and forecasts.
  • Process project orders from order intake to warranty start.
  • Responsible for manufacturing procurement/Purchase orders working with Logistics and Procurement Specialist.
  • Coordination and checking of deliverables.
  • Maintain project status reports and change orders.
  • Manage project budget. Measure, analyze, and present performance metrics of completed projects
  • Direct and manage project planning and execution from beginning to end with input as needed from Team Leader.
  • Define project scope in relation to scope sold, milestones, and deliverables that support customer goals and Huber Technology’s business goals.
  • Develop engineering submittal packages and provide customers and reviewing engineer in a timely manner.
  • Proactively manage the engineering submittal process to obtain customer approval in a timely manner so that equipment can be released for production.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to Huber team members and customer stakeholders in a timely & clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis as well as Team Leader.
  • Estimate the materials, labor, and resources needed to achieve project goals.
  • Create or direct the creation of purchase orders to procure equipment, parts or components.
  • Recommend budget changes where necessary, draft change orders and submit for approval as required by current company policy.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Obtain from the customer a confirming written change order for any significant change in project scope.
  • Determine 3rd party vendors or staffing required to successfully complete the project.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel as needed to complete the project.
  • Identify and resolve issues within the project team to complete any punch lists and project close out can occur timely. Be a resource to help determine warranty situations, provide information to Field Service, and work order details as needed.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations as required.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Conduct completed project analyses and create recommendations report that identifies successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Data Analysis or a related field
  • Minimum of two years’ professional experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

 

Required

  • Experience communicating scientific findings for various audiences.
  • Extremely strong writing, speaking and presentation skills, and equally strong interpersonal skills and strategy acumen. 
  • Ability to manage several projects at once, meet deadlines and ensure quality in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills and experience working on teams.
  • High level of attention to detail and independent work ethic.

Preferred

  • Experience with environmental stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience compiling and communicating data to influence decision-making and corporate strategy.
  • Experience performing GHG inventory analysis and sustainability reporting           

 

Work Environment / Physical Demands (essential to perform the job duties)

 

  • The employee is regularly required to use hands, speak, and hear.
  • Required to wear special garments along with hair nets, beard covers to prevent cross contamination.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand for long periods, bend, reach with arms, and stoop at knees.
  • Work is sometimes performed in a moderately noisy business area.
  • Able to carry 50 lbs.
