Overview

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and direction of the Maintenance Lead, this position will provide daily maintenance on machinery, both preventative and repair. Also, makes repairs or adjustments to machinery and equipment as needed to optimize production, quality and performance of lines and equipment. This position holds the primary responsibility for set-up and maintenance of processing equipment and vision inspection systems. The position also requires assisting and training entry and intermediate level technicians when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible or assists others in installation, relocation, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, and routine setup of assigned equipment.
  • Set-up and train on various vision systems, metal detection, and other production quality control equipment.
  • Train operators, technicians, and other employees who work with assigned equipment.
  • Mentor and train entry and intermediate level technicians to better develop their skills to raise the skill level of the maintenance team.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs, as appropriate.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and properly complete all associated paperwork in a timely manner for assigned equipment.
  • Identify maintenance trends, potential improvements, suggest modifications to PM program to address trends and improve equipment up time.
  • Complete calibrations as needed to keep the equipment in compliance.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork relating to the job, including using good documentation practices on cGMP documentation. Use the CMMs system to enter all work performed.
  • Serve as back-up to the Maintenance Lead as needed.
  • Responsible for all manufacturing and related machinery and equipment to ensure the proper functioning and operation to minimize downtime.  

Duties and Responsibilities Continued

  • Adjust all equipment to a level whereby maximum accuracy and efficiency is achieved without compromising safety.
  • Check the pass downs given from the previous shift.
  • Responsible for cleaning maintenance shop after completing any projects.
  • Assist or provide training to entry level technicians when necessary.
  • Complete all necessary training as directed or assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
  • Must successfully complete TPC training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • Two-year technical degree: or four years relatable maintenance/technical experience may be substituted for minimum education requirements.
  • 2 years maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial or commercial environment.
  • Proficient computer skills utilizing MS Office and Outlook and Internet (MS Word, Excel); Ability to create spreadsheets, graphs, templates and/or databases.
  • Knowledge and understanding of LOTO and OSHA safety requirements related to industrial operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of process support equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge and application of NEC codes.
  • Working knowledge of motor/drive assembly mechanical functions and systems, gear box assemblies, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Advanced skills in the installation, modification, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical functions and systems, fuses, and circuit components.
  • Understanding of PLC and ladder logic.
  • Ability to set up VFDs and PID temperature controllers.
  • Ability to read P&ID schematics and blueprints.
  • Ability to safely perform basic machining operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools and precision measuring instruments (e.g., drills, drivers, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, etc.)
  • Intermediate welding skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment (essential to perform the job duties)

  • The employee is regularly required to use hands, speak, and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit for long periods, bend, reach with arms, and stoop at knees.
  • Work is typically performed in a moderately noisy business area.
  • Able to carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shift work.
