Position Overview
The Manufacturing/Packaging Maintenance Technician for the Gummy Line is responsible for ensuring the efficient and continuous operation of manufacturing equipment involved in the production of gummy products. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery on the gummy production line to minimize downtime, maximize production efficiency, and maintain product quality and safety standards.
Specific Responsibilities
· Routine Maintenance:
o Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on all manufacturing equipment, including mixing tanks, depositing machines, ovens, cooling tunnels, and packaging systems.
o Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues before they cause equipment failure or production delays.
o Clean and lubricate machinery components as required to ensure optimal performance.
o Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on packaging equipment, such as filling machines, labeling machines, sealing machines, and conveyors used in gummy production lines.
o Perform preventive maintenance on packaging machinery in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and internal procedures.
· Troubleshooting and Repairs:
o Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on manufacturing equipment and systems.
o Perform hands-on repairs to correct faults and reduce production downtime.
o Utilize technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to identify causes of failure and implement corrective actions.
o Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues affecting packaging equipment and resolve them in a timely manner.
o Replace worn-out or damaged parts to ensure minimal downtime.
· Process Optimization:
o Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing/Packaging operations, minimizing downtime and ensuring production targets are met.
o Collaborate with operators and quality control teams to adjust machine settings and resolve issues affecting product quality.
o Implement process improvements to increase machine reliability and production efficiency.
· Safety and Compliance:
o Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety protocols, company policies, and relevant industry regulations (such as OSHA).
o Participate in regular safety audits and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
o Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) to guarantee high-quality products.
· Documentation and Reporting:
o Accurately document all maintenance work, including repairs, parts used, downtime incidents and hours worked.
o Update maintenance logs and records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
o Provide detailed reports on recurring issues, potential improvements, and machine performance to supervisors and management.
· Emergency Response:
o Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime and production loss.
o Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and recommend solutions to prevent future breakdowns.
· Team Collaboration:
o Work closely with other maintenance technicians, production staff, and quality control teams to ensure the smooth operation of the production line.
o Assist in training new operators and maintenance staff on equipment, safety procedures, and proper machine operation.
· Continuous Improvement:
o Suggest improvements to current maintenance practices and machine setups to enhance performance and reduce downtime.
o Stay current on industry trends and new technologies to help drive innovation and improvements within the manufacturing process.
o Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability, production efficiency, and quality.
General Responsibilities

Education, Experience, and Licenses:
· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Technical certification or associate’s degree in industrial maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
· Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing or a related field (gummy production or food manufacturing experience is a plus).
· Experience with various types of manufacturing equipment, including mixers, depositors, cooling systems, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
· Hands-on experience with various types of packaging equipment (e.g., automated packaging lines, bottling, capping, labeling, and sealing machines).
· Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to quickly diagnose and repair machinery issues.
· Experience in preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
· Proficient in the use of tools and diagnostic equipment.
· Knowledge of GMP, safety standards, and food safety practices in manufacturing.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work overtime (Weekends) and Shift Work with required notice.
