Position Overview
Under the direction of supervision (i.e. supervisor and/or team leader), the material handler is responsible for performing the physical tasks involved in the cleaning, maintaining, shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing of products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment
Specific Responsibilities
· Cleaning, sanitizing and proper labeling of components used in the department operation, such as product containers, machine parts, auxiliary equipment and production rooms
· Operate industrial cleaning equipment and lifts: hoists, tank washers, tunnel washers, tray washers, etc.
· Inspect, pull and label defective parts out of service
· Weigh finished drum skids, label and print barcodes
· Stage, identify and organize components per department guidelines and work instructions
· Meet departmental productivity expectations for cleaning
· Responsible for changing out wastewater drum, cleaning trays, and washing cleaning rags
· Responsible for learning multiple standard operation procedures dealing with customer specific and general sanitizing functions
· Responsible for assisting the manufacturing operation with atypical requests such as emergency clean-ups and room preparations
· Responsible for ensuring all support equipment within controlled areas are cleaned and stored properly to prevent contamination
· Communicates directly with manufacturing management regarding operating schedules and coordinates available time with multiple groups to ensure smooth working environment
· Maintain good housekeeping standards within multiple areas (i.e. mopping stairwells, vent cleaning, lighting replacements)
· Responsible for quality checks of product.
· Other duties assigned and overtime as required, to include relief of operational equipment and employee breaks.
General Responsibilities
· Adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced is required
· Maintain clean work environment at all times, including and not limited to hygiene practices
· Follow batch record instructions and maintain accurate and legible production records
· Ensure proper labeling of finished product while completing all necessary paperwork / documentation as required
· Ensure that correct raw material and lot numbers are being processed
· Ensure proper recording and usage of batch records per established processes
· Accumulate all rejects and place into the appropriate containers for proper disposal or rework process
· Complete all necessary paperwork and proper documentation
· Know and understand the cGMP and other regulatory compliance
· Ensure job specific safety procedures are established and followed
· Maintain awareness and enforcement of health and safety practices and activities
· Be involved in the development, implementation, and updating of health and safety plans and procedures
· Actively participate in health and safety training programs and demonstrate competency based on training received
· Make safety a priority in daily operations by: Actively participating in health and safety activities,
· Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements,
· Ensuring adequate resources are provided, and
· Providing suggestions for improvement to the health and safety program.
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
· High School diploma or equivalent
· 3 months experience in a manufacturing environment
· Capacity to perform basic computer transactions.
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence.
· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
