Position Overview


The position assists Sr. Manager, R&D - Packaging Engineering in the development, installation, and qualification of Packaging Component. They will develop, design, and implement packaging specifications related to cost effective and efficient finished goods packaging that combines optimal market presentation, operational efficiency, and protection of product; investigates and troubleshoots production line issues related to packaging components; aids as a supplier liaison for all packaging component related issues; maintains all color standard and structural design for all customers related to printed packaging components.

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist in finished product packaging design and development that is mutually beneficial to the customer and packaging production.
  • Assist as a technical liaison between customer, suppliers and packaging production for component questions and issues.
  • Create and develop new packaging components, packaging directions and standards; Generate and maintain all pallet configurations, color standards and designs; creation of new packaging part numbers and BOM set up.
  • Assist in Management of NPC projects, PPC requirements, and support marketing/sales when needed.
  • Assist in providing on-site support to Packaging Operations to resolve packaging component related problems and tooling requirements.

  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.

Qualifications

The Candidate

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • Level of Education
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Science/Engineering or rother Engineering related discipline
  • Level of Experience
    • Minimum of 6+ years of Packaging Engineering or related role
    • Knowledge of packaging project management, experience with plastic bottles, closures, folding cartons, corrugated, and flexible films

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with high-speed packaging equipment and laboratory packaging test equipment
  • Ability to effective use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
  • Broad understanding of packaging solutions for a diversified dosage form portfolio
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and /or schedule form. 
  • Good organizational skills. Attention to detail and follow through.
  • Excellent communication skill (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service to other departments.
  • Able to perform and react to time sensitive projects.
