Overview

Position Overview

The QA Inspector is responsible for ensuring that gummy production processes, materials, and final products meet established quality and safety standards. The role includes in-process inspection, line clearance, documentation review, and reporting to maintain compliance with regulatory and internal quality standards

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct physical testing of finished gummy products as required, including but not limiting to checking weight, count, color, and overall appearance.
  • Perform AQL Sample Inspection Defect and Defect Level Limits on bulk gummies and finished (packaged) gummies
  • Physically place product on QA Hold and release product when necessary
  • Sample according to the ANSI/ASQC Z 1.4 2003 charts
  • Maintain the comparison type samples for the QA and Packaging areas
  • Monitor gummy production lines to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety standards.
  • Perform GMP Inspections and Line Clearance Verifications within the Gummy area.
  • Record inspection results accurately and timely.
  • Review gummy batch record and product evaluation documentation for accuracy and correctness.
  • Perform final Use and Disposition of finished bulk and finished packaged goods in Oracle, as needed.
  • Train to perform daily QA balance calibration verifications
  • Report any quality or safety issues to appropriate supervisory personnel
  • Assist in investigating quality issues and identifying corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Communicate quality concerns with production, maintenance, and QA management teams.
  • Maintain clean work environment at all times, including and not limited to hygiene practices
  • Support training initiatives related to quality assurance and other site procedures
  • Ensure job specific safety procedures are established and followed
  • Maintain awareness and enforcement of health and safety practices and activities
  • Be involved in the development, implementation, and updating of health and safety plans, programs, and procedures and demonstrate competency based on training received

Make safety a priority in daily operations by:

  • Actively participating in health and safety activities,
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements,
  • Ensuring adequate resources are provided, and
  • Providing suggestions for improvement to the health and safety program
  • Assisting in other tasks as requested by the site QA Management.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The Candidate

 

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • High school diploma; Associate degree in Food Science, Biology, or related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years direct experience in a manufacturing or quality role within manufacturing operations

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, FDA regulations, sanitation processes and procedures preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, good documentation skills, and problem solving skills.
  • Understanding ERP and/or warehouse systems, preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel, basic data entry skills
  • Established evidence of leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to execute work tasks independently
  • Ability to communicate respectfully with employees of all levels
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment.
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Possess an attitude that fosters team work and promotes positive morale and respect for coworkers of all levels within the company
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
